Oh, how beautiful! I’m currently 12 weeks pregnant, and have recently been diagnosed as compound hetero MTHFR also. I’ve ‘googled’ too much, and seen too many horror stories. Thanks for an uplifting story about a ‘happy ending MTHFR pregnancy’! This is what I’ll keep in mind for the next 28 weeks!

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I had a perfect baby boy two and a half years ago and my story goes the same as yours. I am now pregnant about 10 weeks and going through the same treatment for compound hetero mthfr . It’s great to hear a happy ending and I’m hopeful the same can be said for me in September. Thanks again for sharing.

Also, I could have put you on our Prayer Line (I am the one who puts it out on the computer) and I know a few good Catholic prayers would have been very beneficial:-)

Thank you so much for publishing your story. I too have been recently diagnosed as compound heterozygous for the MTHFR gene mutation. The only difference is I’ve had 5 miscarriages back to back, including a set of twins. I want another baby so badly, but wasn’t sure how the pregnancy would be with the treatment. Now, thanks to your story, I will definitely give it a try. The pregnancy does seem a bit more complicated, but still absolutely worth it.

What a great story! Your mom sent it to me. Congratulations on having such a sweet and healthy baby! Way to go! I didn’t have the knowledge about childbirth that you have, and just “did what the Dr. and nurses told me to do.” Modern technology has given mothers today much more information to help them choose how to have their babies. What a gift. God is good!

What a sweet little gift! I really think it’s too bad that pregnancy and childbirth have to be so hard. As if getting a whole new person into the world isn’t emotional enough, all these medical complications have to get in the way. Thanks for being so open about your emotions, fears, and joy.

I don’t know how you’re feeling about the experience after writing all this down, but I know after I had my unexpected C-section with Luke, I was really down for a while, wishing things could have gone differently. I would read about other birth stories and wonder why mine couldn’t have gone that way. Finally Keith told me, “That’s just not YOUR story.” That was a light bulb for me. The story of how my children came into the world is unique, and there’s no reason to wish for what someone else has. I have two healthy children, thanks to God’s grace (and modern medicine).

Enjoy that sweet baby!

Way to go! We had all ours naturally, too, and used the Bradley Method as well. Love it! I feel your pain (literally and figuratively) about the Pit. With Anna (delivered the day before TPS), we had to have it too. Certainly adds intensity!

Enjoy your precious daughters. They are truly gifts from God!

What an inspiration you are, dear cousin! I’ve been dying to hear the story, so I’m glad you told it with such detail. We are so thankful that you have all made it through and everyone is healthy. Maybe we will see you during the holidays and Travis can pass on some wisdom to Kevin. I’m afraid we both have no idea what we are in for. Love to all of you!!
